Gustavo Fernandes

Professor Auxiliar

Professor Auxiliar do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Dentária da Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Centro Regional de Viseu) nas áreas de Periodontologia, Biomateriais e Medicina Regenerativa. Médico dentista (2008), mestre em Ciências Médicas (2011) e mestrado Integrado em Medicina Dentária (2018), e doutor em Odontologia (2016), com especialidades em Implantologia e Periodontologia, e pós-graduado em Advanced Implant Dentistry (University of Florida). Membro de sociedades como International Team for Implantology - ITI (Suíça), Membro Efetivo do Sociedade Brasileira de Pesquisa em Odontologia - SBPqO (Brasil), Membro Titular da Academia Brasileira de Odontologia (AcBO) e membro efetivo da Sociedade Portuguesa de Periodontologia e Implantologia. Em 2012, iniciou como docente em Universidade Salgado de Oliveira (Brasil), o qual foi regente da Periodontologia até 2018. Coordenou diversos cursos pós-graduado nas áreas de Implantologia, Periodontologia e Cirurgia Oral, assim como coordenou a especialidade de Implantologia na Associação Brasileira de Odontologia (ABO). A partir de 2018 integra a Universidade Católica Portuguesa como responsável pelas disciplinas de Biomateriais e Medicina Regenerativa do curso de Medicina Dentária em Viseu. Coordenador da Pós-graduação em Periodontologia na Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2019-atual).

O atual interesse de investigação centra-se na área de Biomateriais, a qual envolve superfícies de materiais (implantes, enxertos, regeneração tecidual), com testes in vitro e in vivo, principalmente em ensaios animais e humanos. Tem conhecimento sobre a área molecular, com avaliação de proteínas com objetivo principal de avaliar mecanismos moleculares de interações celulares, a fim de estudar Smart Materials. Recentemente, tornou-se membro do laboratório SalivaTec o qual tem interesse em diagnósticos a partir da saliva.
